How to Update Samsung Showcase i500 with ICS based AOKP Custom ROM Firmware
Samsung Showcase, one of the less heard smartphone users can now too enjoy the most from the AOKP custom ROM firmware release as in the due course of this article we will be checking out on how you can easily install he latest Build 40 update. Note: if your device is network locked, then you can apply this update but it needs to be boot loader unlocked. Once the boot loader is unlocked, the warranty will get void which can ONLY be reclaimed by applying the factory firmware.
It’s very important to back up the data so as to make sure that in case if the data gets lost or corrupted, the same can be easily restored with the help of below steps. Ensure that you are copying all the target back up files in your computer.
Images, Songs, Videos, Files – Copy to internal / External SD Card,APN and MMS Settings – Note down from the path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names”
Make sure that a minimum of 50% battery charge is left in the device or else device will be turned Off in the middle of firmware update. Also, enable the USB Debugging mode in your Galaxy nexus from the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging”. The USB Debugging option should be ticked.

Procedure to Update Samsung Showcase with Build 40 AOKP Build Firmware:
- Download the Build 40 AOKP Firmware Package & GOOGLE Apps package from here to your computer. Once downloaded, connect your device with the computer using the original USB cable and then place the two zip files in your device’s memory and once copied, Disconnect the device.
- Download “Root Checker” app from the Google PLAY Store and check whether the device is rooted or not. Also, disable / uninstall all the security suites installed in your device as it may interrupt the process of firmware update.
- Turn Off the phone so that it can now be entered in the recovery mode. Galaxy SHOWCASE can be entered in the recovery mode by pressing the Volume Up Key, Center button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button. If the device boots up in the normal mode, then try again the above process to get your Galaxy Showcase in recovery mode.
- In recovery mode, select Wipe data/factory reset and also you need to select Wipe Cache partition and then reboot your device by selecting reboot system now with the help of Volume rocker keys so that all the cache data will be wiped Off completely.
- Select “install zip from sd card” > “choose zip from sd card” and then choose the AOKP Build 40 firmware package and then select “Yes” with the help of Volume rocker keys and Menu button.
- Once selected, you then will have to select the Google Apps package. Once both the files are installed, the device will land back to the recovery mode screen. Select the option of “Go Back” and select “reboot system now” for rebooting the device in the normal mode.
