Unofficial Jellybean 4.1.1 release has arrived for the Motorola Xoom Wi Fi edition, as of now there is no ETA on by when there will be an Official update for the Motorola Xoom but it’s expected that very soon there will be an Official release but as in when there will be a new release, we will come up with the same. Over a period of last few months we saw on how you can root, install custom recovery images and custom ROM firmwares in your Motorola Xoom and we will continue to come up with more firmwares, custom ROM firmwares for your Motorola Xoom.

Very soon Jellybean 4.1 too will be coming for the other Motorola Xoom variant and also for Motorola Xyboard device. The best part of this update is its 4.1.1 Jellybean release which addresses all the bugs of 4.1 version.
Disclaimer: We should not be held responsible for any damage to your Motorola Xoom which is very unlikely if you follow all the instructions. Just in case if you face any issues we will try our level best to fix them up.
With the help of below steps, you need to create a back up of all the data in your Motorola Xoom WI-FI/Xoom 4G variant so that just in case if the data gets corrupted or deleted, the same can be restored with the help of below steps. Ensure that all the target files are copied in your desktop.

Note: Please note that this update is only applicable to the Motorola Xoom WI-FI/Xoom 4G US variants and not for any other device variants. If this is applied to any other variant then it will completely brick the device.
Disable all the security suites installed in your computer and uninstall all antivirus tools in your computer so as to ensure that the firmware update is not interrupted in the middle of the process. Apart from this, you also need to make sure that the battery charge left in your device is not less than 50% or else the device will be turned Off in the middle of firmware application which may even brick your device.

Procedure to Update Motorola Xoom Wi Fi with Jellybean 4.1.1 Firmware:

  • In recovery mode, you need to select the option of “Flash Zip from SD Card”. Select “Choose Zip from sd card” to select the Jellybean 4.1.1 zip file and then the Google Apps package which you have placed in your Motorola Xoom tablet. Once the file is selected, it will take around 5 – 10 minutes for applying this update. It may even take longer time than expected.
  • Up next in the recovery mode you will have to select Wipe data/factory reset and select Wipe Cache partition and then reboot your device by selecting reboot system now. Once the device boots up, you can check the same from the path “Settings > About Tablet” where it will show the current firmware as Jellybean 4.1.1 firmware.
Note: If the upgrade process of Motorola Xoom Wi Fi gets stuck in the middle or say if the device gets in the boot loop mode then you need to long press the power button to turn off and start the process from the start. Also, additionally, don’t forget to restore the backup which you did in your device.

They can jump over and soon come out with custom ROMs to take the lead. CyanogenMod team has already expressed their interest in coming out with a ROM based on Jelly Bean and introduced CM10.

Procedure to Root SONY Xperia ION:
  • First up before proceeding, you need to unlock the boot loader. Once the boot loader is unlocked, download any of the insecure kernel depending upon the firmware which you have and then boot the device from the mentioned below options.
  • Now, ensure that from Settings > Developer Options you will have to enable the USB Debugging Mode. After enabling, connect your device with the computer and download the Xperia Ion Rooting Package from here to your computer and unzip the same to get the below mentioned files.

  • Click on “rootme” executable file in your computer and connect your device to the computer with the help of original USB cable. Ensure that you have full Read / Write access rights and admin rights in your computer.
