Galaxy S2 LogoSamsung Galaxy S2 GT I9100 users can now experience an all-new custom ROM firmware which is dubbed as Jellybean 4.1.1 firmware which ropes in the goodness of 4.1.1 and also comes with a host of features which we will be discussing in the due course of this article. Please be informed that this is not an Official firmware version released by Samsung Electronics and is a custom ROM firmware released by the XDA recognized developer cile381. For your convenience, we have mentioned the detailed list of features which this ROM comes along and also the screen captures on how this custom ROM firmware looks like. The best part of this update is that it comes with all the latest apps of Jellybean and also looks like the native version of firmware. As of now there is no ETA on by when there will be an official update of Jellybean 4.1.1 firmware. Note: This firmware of Jellybean 4.1.1 ropes in the latest JRO03H version of firmware and is only compatible with the Samsung Galaxy SII GT I9100 model and it doesn’t support I9100G model. You can find the model number from the path “Settings > About Phone”.

Procedure to Update Samsung Galaxy S2 GT I9100 with JRO03H Jellybean 4.1.1 Firmware:
  • First up you need to ensure that you are on the rooted firmware which you can check by downloading the app called “Root Checker”. If your device is not rooted then you will have to root the same.
  • If your device is not rooted then you will have to root the same with the help of below mentioned steps. You can be on any rooted firmware and not necessarily on a particular firmware, only thing you need to ensure is that its preferred to be on the ICS based firmware.
  • Once the device is rooted, the warranty is void. To regain the lost warranty apply the update of XXLQ5 update in your device.

Samsung has recently clarified that it won’t be pushing the Jellybean 4.1 update for Galaxy S Plus but will be pushing the Value Pack updates so as to make sure that the firmware is smoother.

Procedure to update Galaxy S Plus I9001 with Official Gingerbread XXKQI 2.3.6 Firmware:
  • Download mode in your Samsung Galaxy S Plus can be entered by pressing Volume down Key, Center button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button after which a green robot will be shown indicating the Download Mode has been entered. Up next, connect Galaxy S Plus GT I9001 to the computer using the USB cable which you got at the time of purchase.
  • Ensure that the ID : COM section in Odin is turned yellow as it means that all the drivers are installed successfully which you can get from the Samsung’s Official website.

  • In recovery mode, select Wipe data/factory reset and also you need to select Wipe Cache partition and then reboot your device by selecting reboot system now. This will clear of all the cache data present in your device and will make sure that there are no force close errors arise in the normal usage of your phone.
Note: Just in case if the device doesn’t boot up or say gets into the boot loop sequence, you need to long press the power button or reinsert the battery to turn off the device and retry the whole process from start.
To check on whether the device is updated or not, you can check the same from the path “Settings > About Phone” where you can see that the current firmware version is Gingerbread XXKQI 2.3.6.
